The expert team at MIO has extensive experience turning large dirty and/or unstructured datasets into a single master source of clean reliable data and considerable experience in a wide variety of analysis techniques (including machine learning clustering) to ensure working with multiple datasets with low data quality is underpinned by the required technical infrastructure. MIO’s approach is different from other data consultants: our commitment is to a data-first approach. We do a thorough data quality evaluation of all data that we work with validating starting assumptions and expectations regarding the data. In our experience this is particularly important when working across multiple datasets that originate with or are relevant to different organizations. Seemingly-minor differences in technology or data governance can quickly create complex scenarios when attempting to determine whether data is ‘the same’ as other data for mapping purposes. Finally whether a project is small or large we work toward the result iteratively to ensure that the solution is really what the client needs—which isn’t always what they thought they needed at the start.
